6 years ago, I was an innocent fresh graduate with a bachelor degree certificate on hand. The only way I could explore to the job opportunity out in the society was through a famous job searching website or newspaper, sometimes I would write a letter to the company I interested to find out if there’s any vacancy. The resources in terms of career was so limited to access to the opportunity, and the situation was remained until I finished my Master degree in year 2009. There’s so much job out there but not much of people are getting the right job.
I am kind of lucky to get my current job after went through 2 “not so right” positions, but I have this though that I might get it even earlier if I’ve had attended this career fair or known Talent Corp 3 years ago. The other day, I was invited to the Talent Corp Career Fair in UiTM Shah Alam, much to my surprise the participated company was all local or oversea most promising company such as: Petronas, Sime Darby, Willey Parson, Shell, MSC and etc. It was so attractive that my friend who came along with me kept murmuring she should have brought her resume along, as there’s even a “Vacancy Board” (Jawatan Kosong) right in front of the entrance and interview was ongoing on the same day in the hall with full of interview booth. What a good opportunity to get interviewed by all your interested company in a day without waiting for months after sending out your resume.
After moving booth by booth, I found that not only you could get a place in a promising company, you might as well learn something new in the market like Shared Services and Outsourcing (SSO) . Shared Services and Outsourcing (SSO) is an integration of services that make with the best competitive strategy that utilizes Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, and Engineering Design and Services. This will eventually simplified and centralized the work tasks in an organization allow a better management. If you do admire this concept and keen to know more about it, please visit to SSO by MSC.
Everything in the career fair actually triggered my curiosity towards the whole event and Talent Corp itself by the very well organized yet informative career fair, so I did some research on Talent Corp. Talent Corp was established on 1 January 2011 under the Prime Minister’s Department to formulate and facilitate initiatives to address the availability of talent in line with the needs of the country’s economic transformation. They collaborate with relevant Government agencies and employers in priority economic sectors and serve as the bridge between the public and private sectors in Malaysia. They believe that Malaysia truly has talent and that talents of all backgrounds will be able to find meaningful professional opportunities in this country. Towards this end, we collaborate with employers and engage with talents at home and abroad to promote the dynamic and diverse professional opportunities available in Malaysia.
In their website they do introduced various opportunity to cater people with different need, such as more flexibility for women, they have flexWorkLife.my especially women face the challenge of having to juggle personal commitments and work responsibilities. Also other training and internship program like The Structured Internship Programme (SIP) and FasTrack. There’s so much more in the website, which I couldn’t list out all in a post, so I encourage you to visit the website on your own and have a good view on each page, no matter you are fresh graduate or have been working for xx years, you might find something that you are looking for. Talent Corp official website.
